Promoting Healthy Hearing: On June 9th, 2018, the 2017-2018 JMU SAA chapter worked with the JMU Speech Pathology master’s students to promote Healthy Hearing by providing hearing screenings to over 100 athletes at the Special Olympics event in Richmond, Virginia. A special thank you to Dr. Sara Conrad, an alumna of the JMU Audiology Doctorate program, for her hard work in coordinating the students’ involvement!

The Walk to End Alzheimer's: On October 21st, 2017, several current and previous members of JMU SAA attended Harrisonburg’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event and participated in fundraising efforts. JMU SAA, with the help of our family and friends, raised over $1600 for the Alzheimer's Association.

Ruth Symposium: Another successful Ruth Symposium was held in October 6-7, 2017, inviting hearing health professionals, presenters, and manufactures to come to JMU and share current research and technology that will affect the clinical care, counseling, and intervention of hearing loss. JMU SAA helped facilitate the event and held their annual silent auction, generous donations were attributed from local businesses and many of the visiting hearing aid manufacturers.

Welcome Class of 2021!!
White Coat Ceremony: On October 1st, 2017, the JMU chapter of SAA hosted the 2017 White Coat. The ceremony is held annually to celebrate the first year doctor of audiology students and welcome them into the profession. This year's Key Note speaker was Dr. Melissa Garber, Au.D., who spoke about her experiences as an audiologist and how new clinicians have the opportunity to play a part in and shape patients’ lives. She offered encouraging advice for the students and their respective families.
