Grading
Procedures:
There will be 3 exams during
the semester. Exam dates are September 23rd, October 28th,
and December 4th. Although none of the exams is comprehensive
in nature, an understanding of the material from the previous section is
necessary in order to do well on the subsequent exams. In addition to the exams
there will be a project and an audiogram package to be completed
outside of class. The course requirements are weighted as follows:
|
Exam 2 Audiogram Package Project Exam 3 |
20% 20% 20% 20% |
Letter grades will be assigned
according to 93%=A, 90%=A-, 87%=B+, etc. There
will be NO makeup exams.
Fine Print:
·
Academic Conduct: It is expected
of the course participants to adhere to strict academic honesty. Any act of dishonesty will be strongly
penalized, including reporting to higher authorities and failure in the course.
·
Inclement Weather: In case of
inclement weather the class will be scheduled per directives from the
University communications. The
weather-related information is posted on the JMU official website.
·
Class attendance: Although
attendance is not recorded, students are expected to attend every class. History has shown that regular classroom
attendance is strongly related to performance in the class. Absences due to emergency situations do not
need to be communicated to the instructor, unless it directly impacts the
student’s performance on a class related task (e.g., an exam, project or
assignment due date). In these
exceptions, students are required to document the cause for their absence.
