JMU NSSLHA

The JMU chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA) gives students better insight into the professional world of speech-language pathology and audiology. It provides opportunities for students to meet their peers and form relationships with their professors. NSSLHA works to educate students interested in communication sciences and disorders on topics related to the field.   NSSLHA believes the faculty is a very important influence on the students, and that students can make significant contributions to the faculty, as well. NSSLHA has begun offering more social events to include students and faculty, fostering interaction in a relaxed environment.

DUES: In order to become a JMU NSSLHA chapter member, payment of dues is required.  If you are a National NSSHLA member, local dues are $15.00. If you are not a National member, dues are $20.00. In order to become a National member, you may go to the NSSHLA website and sign up; annual fee approximates $60.

JMU Student Academy of Audiology (SAA)

The JMU chapter of the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) is an organization for students in the Au.D. and Ph.D. audiology programs.  The local chapter provides students an opportunity to network with classmates and faculty.  The club at JMU focuses on four main areas of outreach: education, service, fundraising and social activities. Our SAA chapter provides education for the community by giving lectures on hearing conservation and protection.  On the national level, SAA offers textbooks at discount cost, networking with professional audiologists, and a national conference each year.  SAA provides important experiences in the field of audiology as well as a support system of students and faculty.
